It seems plenty dark, even here in Tucson with 300+ days per year of very bright sunshine. I used 35% 3m tint film on all sides and back. Also that two-toned look w/ the rear windows darker, should be confined to stretch limos. I'm not into that whole "mafia staff car" look. I personally feel the dark (20% and below) limo tints look a bit too ghetto for a car as classy as an e39. So if you make it much darker than mine.expect some police attention. Law enforcement hates dark tints, because they want to be able to see inside the car during a traffic stop. (Watch, tonight I'll get pulled over for my tint.)Ĭonsider that what ever film you use will add to the already tinted glass in the car, and most tint laws are net tint. To the naked eye, the difference between 35 and 28 is not that great, so I went with it thinking I'd be able to play the percentages with the po-po. As referenced above, my SunTek "35%" tint meters at 28% to get "legal" I would have had to put 45 on my fronts, which meters at 39.
Tint itself can also be flaky depending on the manufacturer. And he's been a legit business for 14 years. My tint guy asked me flat-out before I started whether I wanted the whole thing legal or not.
Most tint shops will put on whatever you ask them to. Who knows, that Galant owner might drive that car that way for 5 years and never get stopped. It comes down to whether you are willing to roll the dice on getting stopped and ticketed or not. That's certainly never stopped anyone before.there are plenty of cars here in MA with 20% or darker up front I saw one the other day (a Galant VR4) that had at least 20 all the way around and probably 35 on the windshield (also illegal). Im confused, are you saying that you have 20% on you driver/passenger front windows? because that'd be illegal.
