The two spot Yasuko Saejima speaking with the local police, inquiring about her brother's whereabouts, and Kiryu and Hamazaki bring her to the former Tamashiro Family Office, now abandoned after the events of Yakuza 3. Several days later, Goh Hamazaki does the same, and Kiryu accompanies him downtown to turn himself in after his prison break.
Taiga Saejima washes up on the beach in front of Morning Glory Orphanage after escaping from the privately-owned Okinawa Penitentiary No. Kiryu manages to convince Nakahara to allow him to keep the orphanage, but during the latter half of the game, rival family patriarch Tetsuo Tamashiro enlists Yoshitaka Mine's assistance in demolishing the orphanage, leaving the children and Kiryu without a home, and Mikio gravely wounded. Kiryu travels to Downtown Ryukyu and meets Rikiya Shimabukuro, one of Nakahara's men, as well Mikio Aragaki, who looks up to Rikiya as his aniki.
Kiryu's neighbors are initially less than pleased by the idea of Nakahara evicting them to build a resort, though most are eventually swayed by the amount of money being offered. It is not long before the land that Morning Glory is built on is sought after by Shigeru Nakahara, the local yakuza family's patriarch and owner of the deed to the orphanage. Okinawa is one of the two main locations in Yakuza 3, the other being Kamurocho.
As Kiryu was an orphan himself and wanted to get away from his Tojo Clan past, it was an offer he could not refuse. In 2007, Kazuma Kiryu took over the Morning Glory Orphanage in Okinawa after being requested to do so by its former carers.
